As a consequence of Lucys murder a special investigation team was set up at Stanley Road police station Liverpool 5. This team was headed by DSI Ian Mulcahey. We believe this team went about the inquiry in an efficient and professional manner. They did not trouble the family in any sense and were sensitive in their enquiries within the family. They collated evidence from many sources and were dedicated in their approach.

We understand that they identified Parle, Downes and Bradley from a very early stage in the investigation and we would not be surprised to find their names were put forward anonymously (almost immediately). However they still needed to collect enough evidence to progress the case against the three accused. We have no doubt they achieved this aim and whilst no case can be watertight it obviously reached a point when both the CPS and Judge Globe gave it the green light to proceed. Make no mistake this was not a weak case.

The fact Judge Globe stopped the trial at the point it should have went to jury for us remains mystifying.

Lucys family and friends would like to thank Merseyside police for all their efforts and look forward to the day this case returns to court and justice for Lucy is achieved
